Christmas Eve was a grand event this year. We decided to make sure that we remembered the real 'reason for the season', and acted out the Nativity story. We gathered with family, (Grandma and Grandpa, and Callie, Rich and cousins. Even Brandon and Whitney came.) Everyone had a part to play and they did it well. Abigail played Mary and rode in on the donkey (her dad) to find room in the stable. Emma was a wise man and came bearing gifts to Garrett, who wanted nothing to do with playing the Christ child. Songs were sung and the Spirit was felt. It was taken very seriously, and it was beautiful. The only downside was that Rebecca fell asleep in the other room and did not take part as planned. We ended our program with some fun Christmas songs and Abby told some very funny Christmas jokes. Then we opened the traditional Christmas Eve jammies , put them on and went home to wait for Santa. To cap off a fabulous evening, we sprinkled magic reindeer food on the front lawn, put Santa's magic key on our front door and put out a plate of milk and cookies. Just as it was time for lights out, Rebecca got a tummy ache and threw up all over the entry way. Oh well. Nothing can be perfect, can it?
